Before coming to TRU, I couldn’t even imagine how fast my life would change here. TRU gave
me all the opportunities I was looking for to unearth my true potential. I’ve met people from
various parts of the world, gained real-world work experience and most importantly, I have
learned more about myself. Being a part of the TRU community has been one of the most

General admission requirements

The admission requirements for Thompson Rivers University may vary on the programme you choose. They include:

English language proficiency requirements

Applicants are required to meet minimum English language proficiency requirements for direct entry into academic programs. Students who fail to achieve the results for direct entry into academic programs will be placed in the appropriate level of English language study.

Academic requirements

Admission requirements vary, but all TRU programs require secondary school completion for academic admission. If you are applying for any academic courses, scanned copies of original/official transcripts (or certified copies) of your secondary school grades and any post-secondary institutions you have attended must be included with this application.

Minimum age

Students must be at least 17 years old.

Housing

Choose from homestay, dormitory, student apartment housing or a near-campus student housing community. All housing options are in the vicinity of the campus. Prices vary for the different housing options.

TRU’s beautiful main campus is located in the heart of Kamloops, British Columbia, serving a community of 100,000 people. A welcoming city in a spectacular setting, Kamloops offers a safe environment, affordability and a wide variety of activities. The city is a 3.5-hour drive or 45-minute flight from Vancouver.
