Earn a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts at Thompson Rivers University

Acting, from first to fourth year levels, directing, theatre history and technical theatre courses offer students a full range of theatre options linked to both the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education degrees.

In addition, theatre students can acquire credit through their participation and performance in several major productions staged by the department each year.

Providing training for more than 25 years, the Theatre Major is the only one outside the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island region offering a full range of university-level theatre arts courses.

The Bachelor of Arts Theatre Arts Major program provides students with the opportunity to explore the complete range of the theatrical process, including acting, directing, technical theatre, design, history and theory. The program is designed for students intending on continuing their theatrical careers as drama teachers, for those considering graduate studies in theatre, and for those students who desire further professional theatrical training.

Before coming to TRU, I couldn’t even imagine how fast my life would change here. TRU gave
me all the opportunities I was looking for to unearth my true potential. I’ve met people from
various parts of the world, gained real-world work experience and most importantly, I have
learned more about myself. Being a part of the TRU community has been one of the most
meaningful and rewarding experiences in my life. One of the best things I did in my program
was my co-op. I put my learning into direct practice right away and that helped me secure a full
time position after I graduated.
